What is Just a Spot of Color?
JUST A SPOT OF COLOR is a line of minimalist, color-centered art prints and art-enhanced goodies by Holly McWhorter, an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Brooklyn, New York and Copenhagen, Denmark.
We believe in living simply and we love minimalist design, but we also love color—and we're out to show that the two things are not mutually exclusive!
We also believe in the power of color to lift moods, and mental/emotional health is an issue close to our hearts. So we donate 20% of profits to nonprofits whose efforts are focused on increasing access to mental healthcare.
These organizations will rotate as needs shift, but at the time of our founding, they are these:
The Loveland Foundation
The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 by Rachel Cargle, in response to her widely successful birthday wish fundraiser, Therapy for Black Women and Girls. Her enthusiastic social media community raised over $250,000, which made it possible for Black women and girls nationally to receive therapy support.
Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, ultimately they hope to contribute to both the empowerment and the liberation of the communities they serve.
Voices of Children
Based in Ukraine, Voices of Children gives psychological and psychosocial support to children who have suffered as a result of war operations in Ukraine. They also help families to cope with the everyday difficulties, treatment and rehabilitation needs of their children, offering individual support to the children themselves.
Their objective is that every child who has suffered from the war in Ukraine will get psychological help in time.
The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
They (and we) believe that LGBTQ young people deserve a welcoming, loving world. And they wake up every day dedicated to making that a reality.
Vibrant
For 50 years, Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of New York City), has been at the forefront of promoting emotional well-being for all people—focusing on those in our hometown, NYC.They work every single day to help people get emotional care anytime, anywhere and in any way that works for them. They are unwavering in their belief that everyone can achieve emotional wellness with the right care and support.
